If you love beautiful music, please subscribe. Music from the early 1900's up to the 1950's. In the playlists section, you will find many of the songs I've posted grouped by year of recording.
A NOTE ABOUT CHART STATISTICS: Before the 1940's, official music charts detailing the top selling records did not exist. However, music trade publications would include notices from record companies mentioning popular records, and other information that could be used to estimate a recording's popularity. As a result, modern researchers (in particular, Joel Whitburn in his Pop Memories book)have worked hard in combing through data of record sales, notices concerning popularity, and other historical artifacts from music publications to discern where the records of pre-1940 would have likely charted if official charts had existed. I feel it is interesting and important to use this data in my descriptions to give the listener a feel for how popular the songs, artists and recordings of the time were.

The Four Aces - I'm Yours (1952)
Charted at #17 on Billboard's Records Most Played by Disk Jockeys chart in 1952. The Four Aces cut a very good version of "I'm Yours" but the competition was too great, and this record didn't fare as well as the releases by Eddie Fisher and Don Cornell, which both charted at #3 in Billboard. A fourth recording, by Toni Arden, charted at #24. Original Billboard review: "The Aces, sparked by lead singer Al Alberts, do a strong job on the lovely new ballad, "I'm Yours"."
Written by Robert Mellin.
B-side is "I Understand".

Don had been a successful big band singer during the 1940's, notching up a number of hits with the Sammy Kaye Orchestra. In the '50's, this single, his first on the Coral label, started off a second string of solo hits which continued until rock and roll took over as the popular style. "I'll Walk Alone" was a ve...

Beautiful classic symphony orchestra music and arrangement by David Rose. It was released as an MGM 45-rpm and 78-rpm single in 1955, and on David Rose's 1957 album "Music From Motion Pictures" on MGM Records, although sadly not recorded in Stereo.
To this day and Forever no one, nobody, will ever compare with Bing Crosby.
Here for Mr. Gilmore ❤
I was 16, and this song had something real about it ?? Don't remember too many things from that long ago, but something stuck with me .....
When we were a proper country. I miss America! Life, liberty, victory, what happened to those? It will be ours again.
This song makes me want to build a family.. a legacy... to be the father I never had..
This fit right in with the emerging rock and roll scene that was ever so prevalent in 1956.
A wonderful singer on a lovely song.

Someone actually sent me this song recently - without realizing that this is one of my favorite songs and singers ❤ Peace
👍👍👍
I got this record in '55 from a friend of Dads', who changed records on jukeboxes. I still have it. It is my favorite version. I got lot of the current hits of '54, '55 and '56 that way. I still have most of them in my extensive collection of over 70 years.
I guess this was the most popular vocal version, at the time that Roger Williams had the #1 instrumental version..
Had her own tv show-"My Little Margie"
People knew how to have a good time back then 😂😂❤❤!!
Born in 2003 and enjoying the music of the greats🙏
I love his every single song!
This tune was the centerpiece of Girls in Prison (1994). Good John Watersish trash flick.
I was 13 when this song was released. I remember hearing it on my tiny 6 transistor AM radio.
I remember, I was in 8th.grade, my older sister would play this song...
Just heard this on a local radio show. Shazam was stymied! A real standout. Has that element to it that makes it really speak in 2024.
Sounds a lot like Nat King Cole and same style. I had this '45 in 1960, anyone remember the flip side ?
Soft Beautiful Voice..
Their harmony is so smooth. I yearn for those times again. The world was so much better.
